Now that the Hallmark-manufactured holiday of love – a.k.a. Valentines Day – is over and done with, let’s have a little fun discussing the +1 loves of our lives – our celebrity boyfriends. You know me – I love me some Ryan Gosling, and I know that I’m not alone when it comes to celebrity crushes. Heck, even the Hubs has a celebrity crush, but he won’t let me share it here. I actually have many celebrity crushes, so LET’S DO THIS, YEAH!, by giving away awards in an Academy Award format.
The award for all-around celebrity crush goes to (Ding, Ding, Ding) – you guessed it – Mr. Ryan Gosling! (The crowd goes wild.) He’s nice to look at, intelligent, self-deprecating – and, did I say – nice to look at. I also like that he keeps his private life private. Mr. Gosling, welcome to my esteemed club! (Side note A: When the baby girl found out that I was writing a blog post about my celebrity crushes, specifically Ryan Gosling, she was perplexed. She said, “I thought your celebrity crushes were Chris Hemsworth, Loki, and Bruno Mars.” She knows me so well and apparently listens too much. Side note B: No, I haven’t seen “The Notebook.” My favorite video is of self-deprecating Ryan Gosling on the “The Graham Norton Show” as he discusses his time dancing on tv. Hilarious!)
Runner-up for all-around celebrity crush: George Clooney and Joseph-Gordon Levitt (for the same reasons)
The award for dead celebrity crush goes to (drum roll please)…Cary Grant! (Did she just say, “dead celebrity crush?”. Yes, I did!) With that wit and those good looks, Cary Grant could charm the pants right off of me. As a respectable Christian lady, am I allowed to say that?!? I sure hope so. Ha!
The award for comedian celebrity crush goes to – it’s a tie! The award goes to Jim Gaffigan, Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, and John Crist. I love people who can make me laugh, and these guys crush it almost every time.
Runner-up for comedian celebrity crush: Jerry Seinfeld, for his work on the show about nothing
The award for 1970’s celebrity crush goes to – yes, that’s my error, I mean, era – a tie again!Let’s give it to Andy Gibb, Shaun Cassidy, and Leif Garrett. I’m embarrassed by this all, y’all.
Runner-up for 1970’s celebrity crush: Let’s move on to the ’80’s and give it to NKOTB. I’m not typing that out because – embarrassment. (Side note: I wrote to them once as part of their fan club, and I got the standard reply letter in the mail. Oh, oh, oh! That made me feel special, and I read that letter over and over again. It gave me all the feelz back then, and I may have dreamt a bit about marriage just a bit too much. You can call me crazy. I’m Ok with that.)
And finally, the award for “I just like to look at you and listen to that British accent” award (otherwise known as “who should be the next James Bond?” award) goes to Idris Elba.
Runner-up for “I just like to look at you and listen to that British accent” award: Jason Statham
Who are your celebrity crushes? I’d love to know, so let your ten gallon mouth fly in the comments section below.
